When I cut the pieces for this block, I did so before work in the morning, and I was kind of in a hurry. Apparently, my eyes were not working correctly so that I cut the center square which was supposed to be 3 5/8 inch as a 3 3/8 inch square. GRRRRRR!!!!! If I had only done that correctly I would be finishing up the Centennial block right now. As it is, I was only able to complete two of these:
Now I will have to recut the center square and finish this block at home. Maybe I should cut the next block, Chain of Squares, at the same time. Might not be a bad idea. I should probably also cut the next block in my American Beauty BOM so that I can force myself to work on that too!!!! Then I’ll be making some progress on at least one of my other goals also.
This morning I got to spend some quality time with the Big UFO in the basement. Next time I want to do elaborate quilting in the borders, remind me that it is not a good idea, please! I should sometime include pictures of the stencils I used for the borders! I don’t know what I was thinking!!! One motif in the border takes 8ish hours to quilt! And each end of the quilt has 8 of these! I don’t know how many there are down the sides, but I don’t think I want to know right now. (I’d show you the actual quilting, but I’m using thread the same color as the border fabric, so I’d have to crawl under the quilt frame to take the picture – and I’m not supposed to get down on my sore knee right now, so you’ll have to settle for the stencil pictures later.)
