Yes, I have spent some of today finishing the Bear’s Paw block! Let me just mention that there are a lot of little pieces and a lot of bias sewing. I’m guessing there is an easier way to put it together somehow, but I could be wrong about that.
This is the step where I started second guessing my fabric choices as usual. Also my cutting skills. So far each of those sections has 6 pieces in it. That’s a lot of pieces. I’m just saying.
Now they actually are starting to look like paws. Awwww! But not very straight and regular. Sigh.
Now the three strips are together. No matter how much I look at this, I still wish I had fussy cut that center square! That flower thing would have looked pretty if it were centered. Sigh again.
And here is the finished block – pressed but not squared up. I’m not very happy with how square this is not. I know that I am not the best cutter on earth and I probably stretched some of the pieces sewing on the bias. I’m consoling myself with the thought that this is all part of the experiment. This block does not have to be perfect. And the points seem to match pretty well.
I wonder what I will end up doing with these blocks. Christmas placemats? I currently have no idea. And only six completed blocks. I’d better get busy here. The next block is called Berkeley.
