A Bit of Progress and a Road Bump

I haven’t really made any progress since getting home from Chicago. I have to take the next section apart even more than I thought, so I will work on that in a few minutes. But here is a picture of the first section so far. (Unlike most of the blocks I’ve done, the sections in this one are vertical as opposed to horizontal.)

On a brighter note, I bought several fat quarters of Michael Moore’s Fairy Frost in Christmasy colors to bring a little more glitz to future blocks. Maybe I’ve never mentioned to you how much I love this fabric line, but I do. It’s a sparkly tone on tone and it just adds a real punch to quilts. I’ve been in love with it for years and have it in many colors.
The other good news is that our church’s quilt is now on a frame in my basement, and the quilting has begun. It is going to be amazing. So far only three of us have worked on it, but I know that more will come.
Now, off to troubleshoot the Air Castles block!

  1. So far, pretty! I love the Fairy Frost fabrics too. They are great in holiday quilts. Isn’t it fun having friends over to quilt around the frame – we’ve done that with our guild’s raffle quilts sometimes. Made me feel like I was transported back in time to an old fashioned quilting bee!

  2. We do have a lot of fun with the quilting! I have a standing date with friends all through the fall and then we go through withdrawal when it is finished.
