In my Sunday post I laid out some pretty ambitious plans for my week. How am I doing with those at this point? Well… Results so far are in red.
- Finish cutting fabric for Scrap in a Box and do step one. Well, I have cut all the mediums and darks. I cut enough of the constant (which in my case is white muslin because I have lots of scraps of that from backing several quilts with muslin) to be able to do step one. I have completed step one and trimmed up the blocks.
- Cut and piece the 2014 Designer Mystery BOM blocks 6, 7 and 8 so I’m caught up before the next block comes. Nothing.
- Finish cutting the fabrics for the American Beauty BOM sashing so I can assemble the sashing and the quilt center. Nothing.
- Do some hand quilting on my own quilt (AKA 2009 Designer Mystery BOM). I just looked longingly at it. Sigh.
In the course of cutting my mediums and darks for Scrap in a Box, I found what I think is the ugliest fabric I’ve ever seen which I found in my stash. I’ve heard that if you still think it’s ugly, you should cut it smaller. Certainly (to me) in this case 2 7/8″ triangles are not small enough. See if you agree.
I know that doesn’t look like much progress, but I did finish Block 8 of the 2011 Designer Mystery BOM by hand while watching the Super Bowl. I’m glad this one is done. And I learned that it is much easier to hand piece during a football game than a basketball game. But I really already knew that. Now you are all caught up. I can realistically see myself finishing the cutting of Scrap in a Box (tomorrow as a matter of fact) and maybe cutting and completing one of the 2014 Designer Mystery BOM blocks by the end of the week, but otherwise I think I was pretty ambitious. There is, of course, real life that always seems to intrude on quilting.
