AQS Grand Rapids #2

So now we will move on to some of my favorite quilts!

This quilt was best of show. It is completely hand pieced and hand quilted. It is Spring Dance by Barbara Clem from Rockford, Illinois. I am a big fan! I think it definitely deserved the honor.

This is a closeup of the next quilt, which is also hand quilted. The clamshells are quilted in different patterns, in pairs by color. I love this quilt.IMG_4448

This is a section of the border. Isn’t it gorgeous? The name of the quilt is Shellabration and it is by Christine Wickert of Penfield, NY.IMG_4450

And this is the whole quilt! It won best hand workmanship.IMG_4451

This is the winner of the best longarm workmanship. It is 828 Valence St. by Laurie Tigner of Rapid City, SD.IMG_4452

Stunning, isn’t it?IMG_4453

I can’t even imagine! IMG_4455

Yep, another closeup!IMG_4456

This is Ewe Are My Sunshine by Janet Stone of Overland Park, KS, winner of the best home machine workmanship award. In case you can’t tell, I had some trouble getting close enough to take closeups of this one. IMG_4458

This is Hopeless by Janneke de Vries-Bodzing of the Netherlands, winner of the best use of color award. These kinds of quilts always amaze me! IMG_4460

I’m afraid I can’t tell  you exactly which award this one won. What I do know is that it is Springtime in the Geisha’s Garden by Margaret Solomon Gunn of Gorham, ME. You may remember how much I like her quilting from other shows.IMG_4461And this is why! Plus, of course, I love her use of color.

More to come!

Quilt on!
