I’ll show you the photos of the next couple of steps here, but I won’t post the final finished block picture until I have really pressed the block. The blocks just look so much better once they are pressed.
Here is the first thing I did today – made 4 squares from the pieces I worked on yesterday.
I like the way the squares almost look three dimensional. I noticed it even more when I sewed two blocks together to make a strip.
Of course, maybe once they are pressed with an iron as opposed to just finger pressed, it won’t look so three dimensional, and then again maybe not. And, yes, I am very happy with the fabric choices for this block also. Very happy.
I also like the way the finished block looks. Of course, it is a star and I love star blocks. Will I make it again? Probably not. I certainly would never machine piece it because I am sure I could not make the seams match up and my machine would hate the thickness of some of the places where the seams match up (or are supposed to).
The next block on the list is called Broken Star. I’ll tell you more about that when I post the picture of the pressed Blazing Star block.
