This week we are looking at a very new book, Bella Bella Sampler Quilts: 9 Projects with Unique Sets Inspired by Italian Marblework Full-Size Paper-Piecing Patterns by Norah McMeeking.
This is a collection of paper pieced quilts inspired by Italian marble work. In this book, in addition to the nine stunning quilts, Norah McMeeking gives great paper piecing directions and hints. I loved all the quilts, although not all of them were in colorways that I would say I love. Yes, I’d redo most of them in blues and purples and aquas and pinks and greens if I were making them for myself. I know that about myself by now.
This is not her only book on the subject. She has an earlier book, Bella Bella Quilts: Stunning Designs from Italian Mosaics, which must be out of print given how expensive it is on Amazon.com. Judging from the newer book, the older one might also be worth looking at.
If you are a paper piecer (although Norah does tell you how you can make these quilts without paper piecing), you may well enjoy either of these books!
