Welcome to Books on Monday! Today we are looking at Log Cabin Restructured: 23 Log Cabin Quilt Projects with Triangles, Diamonds, Hexagons and Curves by Shizuko Kuroha. The link below is an Amazon Associate link which benefits this blog if you use it. (I’m sorry but this is not a Look Inside Book, and you are missing a lot by that fact!)
This is an amazing book for fans of Log Cabin quilts! (Yes, I really liked it and I will probably use lots more exclamation points because of that.) It starts with great instructions for the basic Log Cabin block and adds to it similar blocks made with different shapes. The directions are clearly written and easy to follow. Projects are interspersed throughout the directions wherever they are appropriate. And not all of the projects are quilts!
I am a fan of Log Cabin quilts and all their variations! I have several Log Cabin specific books, but this one is special. Diamond shaped Log Cabin blocks are very tempting. Hexagons too. Very tempting. I’m not sure how soon I can get to this but I hope to make at least a few here.
So what’s inside this book? Here are the sections:
- Note on Fabric
- Drawing Log Cabin Patterns
- Patchwork Basics
- Quilting Basics
- Part 1: Basic Log Cabin Blocks (This includes eight projects followed by a section with techniques for making these blocks.)
- Part 2: Geometric Blocks (This includes six projects followed by a section with techniques for making several different geometric shaped Log Cabin blocks.)
- Part 3: Unique Log Cabin Blocks (Eleven projects and more techniques.)
- About the Author
- Pattern sheets
Why can’t all the old UFOs finish themselves so that I can start some of these?
