After much slacking, I’m back! For whatever that is worth. Of course, I have not cut the fabric for the Corn and Beans block, but I sort of have a good excuse. My mother-in-law was released from the rehab facility where she had been recovering from her second broken hip. This means that my husband has been very stressed about taking care of her and finding other living arrangements for her. (I don’t think I have mentioned this, but since my husband’s stepfather passed away 17 1/2 years ago, my husband has been the person in charge of making sure that his mom is okay. For the first 8ish years, she lived in the house next door to us and for the last 9 1/2 years we have lived in the same house.) Since she is 87 and has fallen several times in the past year, he feels like it is time for her to be somewhere where trained people can care for her when needed. So, sometime within the next couple of weeks, my MIL will live farther from us than she has at any point in the last 17 1/2 years.
I thought trying to downsize two homes into one was tricky 9 1/2 years ago! She will be moving into a 2 bedroom apartment, and it still seems like there is a lot to sort through and decide if it stays or goes. And all of this is a bit complicated by the fact that there is no good place to put packed boxes because she and her walker need to be able to safely navigate the house.
Unfortunately, this means that all my creativity has been drifting to how to redecorate the master bedroom and bath into which we will be moving. This daydreamy planning has also included a quilt for the bed (in my mind) and one for the bathroom wall, but we shall see. I have some large things to finish first.
Sorry for the boring post! Now on to the giveaway!
I recently subscribed to Quilter’s World Magazine but I was not confident that my subscription would be processed in time for me to receive the February issue, which I really wanted, so I purchased a copy. Guess what came in Saturday’s mail! So I have an extra copy of the February Quilter’s World to give away.
