Personal Catch Up

You cannot imagine how out of the loop I feel these days! I can’t seem to keep up with social media of any form and I haven’t been able to write a blog post in forever! At least, that is how it feels. If you are a person looking for a book review or quilty talk, this isn’t the post to read right now! I hope by tomorrow to post some kind of quilty progress on something, but I make no guarantees. This post is basically to let you know why I haven’t been posting.

Back in October, my MIL fell in her apartment at the assisted living facility where she had been living. She was taken to the hospital where it was found that nothing had been broken. Her dementia, however, seemed to have progressed to a point where her living arrangement was no longer the safest for her. While she was spending six weeks in rehab, my husband found a beautiful (and very close to us) memory care facility.

We got her stuff mostly packed up in a one day marathon with my BIL and SIL. We got our house rearranged in order to store what things of hers wouldn’t fit in the new place. The movers came and moved the big stuff. We spent the better part of a week unpacking and arranging and hanging pictures (and, yes, decorating for Christmas) so that all would be ready for her to move in last Monday when she was released from rehab.

She was released and she and my DH ate a lunch on the way to her doctor’s office for her post rehab check and to get hard copies of her prescriptions for the new place. While there, her glucose level was discovered to be 600. Back to the hospital she went and now she is in a different rehab facility until they can get everything balanced out.

Since my DH is currently not driving at night (he has some cataracts that need to be taken care of as soon as he gets a chance) and it gets dark very early, I have been doing chauffeur (or is it chauffeuse) duties. In addition to all of the unpacking and decorating. And getting ready to celebrate Christmas with our kids, which we did this past weekend. Yes, it has been a busy season, but I have done a little bit of sewing and quilting which I’ll tell you about in a later post. Hopefully by tomorrow.

Quilt on!

  1. Oh Gretchen hope all sorts itself out ASAP and your MIL health issues are stable. Happy Christmas, and I hope you find a few spare moments for some soothing stitching. Hugs from Australia xo
