So Many Things (Picture Heavy)

What a week! Last Wednesday, DH and I flew off to visit my baby sister whose birthday it was. (Yes, she liked her placemats.) We cost my sister and BIL a bit of income as they are AirBNB Superhosts and we got to stay here: They also have two other rooms that they rent out, so we didn’t totally destroy their income!

We landed in the afternoon while my sis was still at work so we got settled in.

On Thursday we started by eating with my favorite breakfast view in all the world. Here it is with some clouds and then a couple of minutes later with more sunshine.

My sister and I spent a hunk of the afternoon at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles admiring the exhibits. I took several pictures but hesitate to post any. You’ll just have to go and look at the museum yourself.

We met the guys (who had been doing guy things) for dinner. We don’t have dining like this in Michigan!

(I just need to mention that this is the first picture of myself since beginning my (ever lengthening) weight loss journey, that I’ve actually thought I look like I’ve lost a bit of weight.)

We went to see Hail, Caesar afterwards.

Friday afternoon, DH suddenly took ill. (It turns out he has the flu and some pneumonia, but we only found that out today, now that we are home.) Consequently, he did not attend anything else all weekend. Poor guy. He didn’t get to go to the play on Friday night or to Napa for the winery tour and tasting on Saturday, He also didn’t get to see my nephew’s apartment with the bridge to bridge view of San Francisco! (I know that was what he wanted to do most, so that was the big disappointment.)

But I did all of those things. Here are a couple of pictures from the winery tour (Nickels & Nickels) and a very bad iPhone shot of the view from my nephew’s apartment.

Then last night (Tuesday) he started feeling much worse and running a high fever so today we headed to the doctor. Flu and pneumonia. Fun. He has been feeling so bad! Hopefully that turns around soon. He doesn’t even want to eat. (I need some of that!)

Lastly, tonight I tried a new bread machine experiment. I tried making the 1 1/2 pound size of chocolate walnut bread. The results were quite different and confusing. This time the chocolate chips didn’t even melt so that it came out as chocolate chip walnut bread. And it was still a little underdone.

I’m pretty sure after this test that it is not heating properly. Now to decide whether or not I want/need a new one. Life’s full of tough choices.

I’m hoping for some major quilting time over the next few days – as long as I don’t get the flu!

Quilt on!
